Side Painting Project

This little side project has nothing to do with bikes, but was a fun painting experiment. I had some leftover Chromacoat Peacock paint from the Super Cissy Build, and I had a can of Chromacoat Red without a project. I also had a new whitewater helmet that I wished stood out a little more in rapids. This would make it easier for me to be spotted while being chundered in a rapid because I blew the line and got chucked out of the boat.

I put some terrible red racing stripes on my first whitewater helmet some 10 years ago, and I wanted to recreate the stripes but with a much more professional look this go around. The process was to sand the existing clear coat, apply black primer, apply the Chromacoat Peacock to the center area where the stripes were going to be, mask the stripes with tape, apply the Chromacoat Red, then finally finish with a high gloss clear coat. Here’s how the final result turned out!
